Out of the 1950s and into the 1960s, the Malibu Pit was where the cool bus stopped and offloaded the coolest of the cool, and those who aspired to be cool. The Pit was re-created in the 1978 movie Big Wednesday and it was in the pit where a lot of surfing history was evolved, and legends made. This is where surf fashion evolved too, as the Malibu Pit was perilously close to the star-maker machinery of Hollywood. Check the guys sitting and standing on the left. See the stripes on their trunks? See how the girls are only looking at them? M Nii, baby.
